The Consent Of The Governed?

“Believe me, dear Sir: there is not in the British empire a man who more cordially loves a union with Great Britain than I do. But, by the God that made me, I will cease to exist before I yield to a connection on such terms as the British Parliament propose; and in this, I think I speak the sentiments of America.” — Thomas Jefferson, November 29, 1775

A few months after Thomas Jefferson spoke the words in that opening quote, upon the urging of the delegates and leaders of the American colonies along with a special request from John Adams for Jefferson to author the document he penned the words of our Declaration of Independence; “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.–That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, –That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.” - The Declaration of Independence -

As I watch and see all that is going on in our nation in a myriad of ways, I cannot help but to wonder. How much longer will it be before true law abiding, red, white, and blue blooded Americans rise up against a dystopian, dysfunctional, and dangerous federal government? How much are they willing to take and endure? What will be the proverbial straw that will break the camel’s back? It seems like America is about to split in two. I do not know what the breaking point will be. I do think it will come at some point. The people in charge right now are literally undermining our liberties, our constitution, and our very safety. The policies and actions of this present administration aren’t just bad policies they are destructive policies. They’re not just the wrong policies they are extremely dangerous policies.

In every way imaginable, from a disastrous and extremely dangerous border catastrophe that is without any doubt jeopardizing our security, to destroying our energy independence by all but shutting down our domestic oil and gas production and industry with seemingly little concern for it’s ramifications on the middle class. Let's not even mention the incoherent foreign policies that could very well lead to war either be it in the Middle East or a major conflagration with China that almost all of our military leaders are warning of. Americans are in existential danger, and that danger is coming straight from it’s own government. A government that is being run by feckless and despotic ideologues who are blinded and drunk on their own power and elitism. Corrupt officials elected in many ways through a rigged and corrupted system. More often than not, promising the electorate one thing while campaigning for their vote but then delivering something completely different once in power. A government that was intended to be a representative government no longer represents the American people. We literally have people in places of power both locally and federally that literally hate America. Oh, they may feign fidelity to America, but it’s subterfuge at best. They hate the historical America, they hate the Judeo-Christian underpinnings of America. They hate traditional American values and culture. And as I heard someone say recently, “...no country can survive for long when ruled by people who hate it.”

America’s existence as a nation is in serious jeopardy. On every front, and in every way, our God given and natural birth rights are being undermined, usurped, and all but destroyed. How much longer will Americans put up with those who have abused and betrayed their, “...just powers from the consent of the governed...”? I am simply pondering, wondering, when the words of our founding document will once again resoundingly resonate in the hearts and souls of the American Patriots spirit. The founding fathers of this American Republic very well understood that power corrupts and that absolute power corrupts absolutely. And that an absolute, centralized government was the greatest danger to the natural rights of a free people. Therefore, they clearly declared, “That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, –That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government...”

I am simply asking the question, how much will American's endure, and what are they willing to consent to?
