The Apostle Peter tells us that; “God, turned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, and condemned them to destruction, making them an example to those who afterward would live ungodly; but delivered righteous Lot, who was oppressed by the filthy conduct of the wicked...” (2 Peter 2:6–7)
Likewise, also Jude, tells us similarly that God destroyed, “...Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them in a similar manner to these, having given themselves over to sexual immorality and gone after strange flesh, they are set forth as an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.” (Jude 7)
The historical record of Sodom and Gomorrah, and of Lot is found in Genesis chapter 19. The gravest mistake any body can make today is to think that the God of Genesis 19 is a different God than the God of 2019 or 2023, or that He ever changes! Both Peter and Jude assure us that the incident and the record of Sodom and Gomorrah was purposefully recorded in order to set forth an example, “to those who afterward would live ungodly...giving themselves over to immorality and strange flesh...”.
The greatest lie perpetrated upon the world today is the lie that God’s holiness and His moral law has somehow changed with the times. I can assure you that, no, He has not changed, nor has the nature of His holiness changed even one iota! He is The Lord God Almighty, who changes not, and who is the same, yesterday, today, and forever! The late, great Leonard Ravenhill once said, “Sodom had no bible”, yet, God judged Sodom and Gomorrah centuries before He gave Moses the law.”
Jesus forewarned us of what the social climate would be like in the days leading up to His return. “And the world will be as it was in the days of Lot. People went about their daily business—eating and drinking, buying and selling, farming and building—until the morning Lot left Sodom. Then fire and burning sulfur rained down from heaven and destroyed them all. Yes, it will be ‘business as usual’ right up to the hour when the Son of Man returns. On that day a person outside the house must not go into the house to pack. A person in the field must not return to town. Remember what happened to Lot’s wife! Whoever clings to this life will lose it, and whoever loses this life will save it." (Lk.17:28 NLT)
My friends, we need to be acutely aware of the times and seasons in which we live. The world is increasingly celebrating and embracing those things which are an abomination in the sight of heaven! And worse yet, sadly, so is an increasingly apostate church! They boast and revel in practicing that of which God forbids. They condone that which God condemns. They fight for the right to do that which is wrong.
When a man, (Bruce Jenner) wins “woman of the year” and is lauded on the cover of a woman’s magazine; When Cecile Richards, the former head of Planned Parenthood, where under her leadership human babies are butchered, torn apart, and body parts are sold for profit, yet can still win a “human rights” award; When a porn star named Stormy Daniels can be honored by city officials and given the key to a California city for her ostensibly standing up for “woman’s dignity”; when we have so-called Christian ministers, priests, bishops, and church leaders advocating for and performing gay marriages and “blessing” abortion clinics; what else could you possibly call these days but, “...the days of Lot”?
The bible tells us that Lot was vexed and oppressed by the filthy conduct of the wicked! (2 Peter 2:6–7). And, as it was in the days of Lot, LGBT fascism is “surrounding the house” (Gen. 19:4), demanding to have their way or you will be punished or even worse for denying them!
Recently the Canadian Supreme Court ruled against a Christian college resulting in the school being denied accreditation because of its policies regarding sex and marriage. Policies that are fully based on the core values of its biblical foundations are being punished despite the fact that IT IS A CHRISTIAN SCHOOL! And they in Orwellian fashion call this “standing for equality”? No. This is tyranny and fascism at its core!
In similar fashion there is Tim Gill who is the founder of the software company Quark, Inc. He is the single largest individual donor to the LGBT rights movement in U.S. history, having personally committed more than $422 million since the early 1990s. Gill, who has poured $422 million of his fortune into legislative campaigns to insert sexual orientation and gender identity into anti-discrimination laws, candidly admitted in Rolling Stone magazine that he is doing so to “punish the wicked.” Who are the wicked according to Gill? Those who disagree with his view of marriage and sexuality. Make no mistake about it! Today, as in Lot’s day the “house” where righteousness dwells is being surrounded by militant depravity with an agenda to replace decency with deviancy, and if you protest against it, you will be attacked or even worse.
Luke 17:28-29 (NKJV) “Likewise as it was also in the days of Lot: They ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built; but on the day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all.”
The Word of God makes it clear that we are in the “last days”, even the “...days of Lot.”, as Jesus described them. The evidence is overwhelming and compelling that the time is short and that God’s righteous judgments are coming upon this world. When we read that passage of scripture we need to ask ourselves, “Why did Jesus reference “the days of Lot”? Why did Jesus use the phrase, “the days of Lot”? What was significant about those days?
Sodom (the city in which Lot lived) and its twin city of Gomorrah were places where there was out-of-control wickedness and vile sexual perversion. Sodom and Gomorrah were cities in which the populace considered that which was evil as being good; and that which was good, they considered evil! The inhabitants of Sodom and Gomorrah actually believed that their deviancy was decency! They condemned Lot for even presuming to “judge” them. They said, "This one came in to stay here, and he keeps acting as a judge; now we will deal worse with you than with them." So they pressed hard against the man Lot, and came near to break down the door. (Genesis 19:9 (NKJV) Sodom was a society that exchanged the truth of God for a lie. It was a society that exchanged the natural for the un-natural. Paul describes Lot’s times and his society in Romans Chapter 1, (Please read Romans 1:18 -32), it is an accurate and amazing picture of our world and society today.
To quote Leonard Ravenhill once again, “If God doesn’t Judge America, (Or any other society that fit’s the description) then, He owes Sodom an apology!” Here’s the sober truth: Sodom had no bible. Sodom had no prophetic warnings. Nevertheless, Sodom was summarily judged!
Jesus told us, "To whom much is given much will be expected!". How long America? How long before the land vomits you out? How long will you test the patience of The Lord? How long will you mock righteousness and profane the created order and ordinance of the Lord? Get ready! For the Judge of all the Earth has a complaint against you and He is about to enter the court room!
"As it was in the days of Lot..."
Sodom & Gomorrah were societies openly accepting and even celebrating that which God abhorred. They were societies that not only embraced but also forcibly tried to inflict upon others that which is against both the laws of nature and of nature's God. God's judgment was the necessary consequence of the obvious deviancy of natural law. (Let me remind you yet again of the fact that their judgment came long before the law of Moses codified the prohibition against homosexuality.) Yet today, we are seeing even in "the church" more and more so-called "Christian" leaders coming "out of the Closet". We are seeing more and more church leaders trying to accommodate the “LGBTQ life-style”. These so called church leaders are liars and deceivers, and they turn the truth of the word of God into a lie and a travesty.
It was even reported recently that Pope Frances speaking with a gay man reportedly said to him: "God made you that way and loves you as you are... you have to be happy with who you are."
Folks! A little bit of truth mixed in with a whole lot of lies is like putting a sweetener into a glass of bitter poison. Sure, it will taste sweet going down, but it will kill you in the end.
Does God love the homosexual? Yes. Did God make the homosexual that way? No. Does God want the homosexual (or any other sinner) to stay that way? No.
Let me clearly state, that this is not merely meant as a diatribe against homosexuals. Does Jesus love Homosexuals? Yes he does. Does He love adulterers? Yes, He does. He also loves thieves, drug-addicts and Alcoholics. However, He doesn’t want me, you, or them to stay that way! Does Jesus love sinners? Of course He does. But He saves us to change us and He says to us, 'GO AND SIN NO MORE'.
Now, I need to say something very important here. I want to be very clear about some things. I readily admit that I have “fallen short of the glory of God” and am in the process of “working out my salvation with fear and trembling…" In short, I am far from being a perfect person. Therefore, I am a man of grace, and a person who believes in mercy. I am a person who has received grace and mercy and therefore I am a person who extends grace and mercy as much as possible. For “blessed are the merciful for they shall receive mercy!". Having said that however, we need to fully understand what it means to follow the Lord Jesus. Jesus said, “He who loves me will keep my commandments.” Biblical Christians simply cannot allow a godless society or a liberal progressive ideology to define 'Christian love' as some sort of cultural lawlessness. God’s love for the sinner does not embrace the falsehood that “love” is the negation of all boundaries and moral standards. Love does not mean lawlessness. Love does not mean the casting off of moral restraint.
The popular mantra of the day is: Love wins! However, the world has confused love with lust. It has confused human sentimentality and selfishness with the pure and holy Love of God. The love of God speaks the truth. The love of God teaches the truth. And true compassion speaks the truth in love. Love warns of the dangers and consequences of bad choices. That’s how love wins.
The Word of God is more than clear on the issue of sin.
1 Corinthians 6:9-10 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.
The ubiquitous lie that God made the homosexual that way is a doctrine of demons! God is not the cause of the homosexual's sin, any more than He is the cause of the adulterer's sin, or the thieves’ sin, or the drunkard's sin, or the murderer's sin. God is not the author of any sin, nor did He create man to sin. All of us sin by our own volition and choice, and all of us can be changed by the Power and the truth of the Gospel!
The very next verse after the one quoted above (1 Corinthians 6:11) says: says: "And such were some of you...". Past tense! Paul is writing to those who past tense, "were once these things", but they are no longer those things, they were changed through the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
God saves us to change us. If you are not changed neither then are you saved. Paul writes; “Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness…of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.”
Therefore, when I see so called “men-of–the–cloth” and those who adorn themselves in clerical garb twist and pervert the word of God, a fire rises up within me and I cannot be silent. It’s not the LGBT activist that set’s me off! It is the apostate ministers who preach a lie and a false gospel! The blind leaders of the blind are the ones that set me off! Too many preachers today want to be loved and accepted by the world, therefore they either compromise the scripture or flat out reject it. They preach a palatable politically correct Jesus, but it is not the Jesus of the Bible. Do not be deceived! God will not be mocked. God’s word does not change.
I will not, however, be intimidated by the politically correct crowd's accusations of “gay-bashing” and “intolerance”. I am neither. But I will speak the truth of God's word in love. When I was Pastoring at a former church where I once served, there were homosexual congregants in my church, however, they were men whose lives were changed by the power of Jesus Christ. I loved them and I prayed with them in hospital rooms with tears in my eyes as they were dying of aids. I personally know many ex-gays who were saved and changed by Jesus Christ. So, I won't allow anyone to put their politically correct garbage on me and accuse me of being some kind of “homo-phobe”. Nope. It won’t fly with me. Homophobe? No. I do not have a fear OF homosexuals, I fear FOR them if they remain in their sin apart from the salvation that is only found in the Gospel of Jesus Christ! And that is true for all of sinful humanity! It is the Word of truth which will set the captive free! Loving the homosexual, indeed, loving all people because of their God designed humanity means speaking the truth to them!
These are the days that Jesus said would come, as well as the days that Paul also forewarned of..."For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth..." (2 Timothy 4:3-4)
I can only cry out along with Paul that, “… we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad. Knowing, therefore, the terror of the Lord, we try to persuade men…Him we preach, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus. To this end I also labor, striving according to His working which works in me mightily. I’ve written this with one aim in mind. To warn you to flee from the wrath to come. Because, once the hand of God’s grace is removed, the hand of mans’ own wickedness will destroy him.
If you have read this and you do not know the Lord or if you have never received or accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, please do so now! The days are short! You need to make a decision to give your life to Jesus Christ right now! What must you do?
1. REPENT: Now repentance is not merely feeling sorry for your sins, but it means to turn from them never intending to do them again. Repentance means to change the way you think and act. It means to turn from self and turn to God.
2. CONFESS: All your sin to God. Ask Him to forgive you in the name of Jesus. Jesus paid the price and debt for your sin - that is what the cross was all about.
3. RECEIVE: Jesus by inviting Him to come into your life as Lord. When you receive and accept Christ as your Lord, you then will have the Resurrected Jesus living in you by the Holy Spirit empowering you to walk in repentance and newness of life bearing the fruit of righteousness!

Oh Lord God, I surrender my life to you. Create in me a new and clean heart! Create me anew in Jesus Christ!
Jesus, I believe you are the son of God, and that you died on the cross for MY sins. I believe that you rose from the dead to give me new life. Forgive me now Lord and cleanse me. Come into my heart and give me that new life. Thank You Jesus for hearing and answering my prayer. Amen!
